About Darlene Flores
As a web developer, I am excited to put my strong technical background to good use. Problem-solving, debugging, seeing the big picture, breaking down a complex problem into manageable parts AND communication are all transferrable skills to web development from my experience as an engineer.
I obtained my BS in Electrical Engineering and MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT. My professional experience includes a concentration in digital signal processing and image processing as applied to HDTV and DVD applications. At Motorola, I wrote software to specify the design of semiconductors for MPEG-2 video decompression in DVD players and General Instrument cable set-top boxes. I presented technical sessions on HDTV and DVD for engineering colleagues at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and provided technical support during customer visits to Sony, LG, Panasonic and Motorola in Japan. I have served on the steering committee for GETT (Girls Exploring Tomorrow’s Technology) and as web dev/publicity chair for Society of Women Engineers – Philadelphia.
